Croquet is a sport that can be enjoyed by all. It can be played very simply or can involve lots of tactics and complicated shots.

Swanage Croquet Club was founded in 2005 and plays on two lawns at the Bon Accord Road playing field.

League Season continues

The league season continues with the Handicap and High Handicap teams both currently sitting top of their respective leagues in the South West Federation of Croquet Clubs. Indeed, the High Handicap side recently beat East Dorset 16-4 and can now qualify for the competition knock out stages with a draw in their final league fixture at Winterbourne Valley on 5th August.

 

The Handicap side have also been in recent action and secured a 10 - 10 draw away against Dowlish Wake who sit in 2nd place in the league. The return fixture will be on 6th August but in the meantime the Handicap team are next in action at home against Budleigh Salterton on Tuesday 22 July.  The match will start at 10am and all support is welcome.

Advantage Golf Croquet

Advantage Golf Croquet has recently been adopted by South West Federation and so will be used in league matches and our own club competitions in 2025. To help make this change guidance on playing Advantage Golf Croquet, including starting tables and how to score etc, is now available from the navigation bar via the heading 'Play'. 

 

Also now available is an expanded guidance note on the more general rules of playing Golf Croquet which includes foul shots, the penalties arising and how best to avoid them in specific situations."

2025 Club competitions

Draws for the internal club competitions have now been made

and full details are available from the competition sheets in the marquee. 

Players should arrange the matches between themselves and remember to update the competition sheets with the match result.

                          If required, guidance on the Advantage rulesand a table to calculate a player's advantage starting point is available from the Play tab above .
